This year I've had some disparaging things to say about the media and its coverage of cycling issues. But I've got to give more than a passing nod to The Age which has recently run several stories that provide a positive spin on cycling. From Ride To Work Day to their Cycling the City
series, I've found nothing to complain about.
Cycling the City
Over the last four weeks, journos from the big paper have been sent out to explore commuting cycle routes into the city from all points of the compass. You may have seen them:
All have been well balanced and generally positive: sharing the good, warning of the bad, and criticising the ugly (like the path that dumps cyclists into the St Georges Road roundabout). If you know someone who might want to start bike commuting these articles, along with the associated route maps, would make a great resource for introducing some possible routes.
So bookmark 'em or file 'em—you never know when you might just need 'em.
