... but it ain't finished yet.

Here's a note I just shot off to the Ranger In Charge (Waterways), Parks Victoria:

Following my earlier emails regarding the Yarra Trail ramps, I'd just like to recognise credit where it's due.

Earlier this week I was pleased to notice the extension that has been added to the bottom of the ramp near the Church St. bridge. That's an excellent improvement that will significantly improve the safety of the ramp. I presume this is an interim solution while dredging options are being considered?

On the downside I think that the exposed metal of this extension plate will represent a hazard to cyclists when it is made wet by rain or dew. I hope that very soon you will be able to arrange the fitting of a rubberised coating similar to that which covers most other metal plates along the floating pathway.

However that doesn't in any way lessen my appreciation of the work done.

I was also pleased to notice that exposed screw heads and loose debris have been removed from the ramps with damaged non-slip surfaces. It looks like this will have to be an ongoing job because some large chunks have subsequently broken off. Are you able to indicate when the resurfacing work will take place?

Congratulations on the work to date and I hope the remaining repairs can proceed quickly.

OK, a bit syrupy but I've found you can never be too polite.
